Dolphin Tail, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

On the day of the Sandcastle contest there were dolphins frolicking very close to the shore. People were pointing and shouting to each other and there were also a large number of birds flying around. All we can guess is that there must have been an equally large number of fish in the waters. It was so exciting to watch the dolphins from very close range as they came flying up out of the water and dove back down in pairs. This all happened so quickly and unexpectedly – as to where they would resurface once they dove down – it was nearly impossible to photograph it. There were at least a half dozen dolphin but impossible to count!

Bob managed to catch the "tail end" of one of the dolphins!

You're both sooooo lucky to see a dolphin out in its' natural habitat. I have to go to Six Flags just to see one :(

Thanks for the comments! We always appreciate knowing there are people out there reading our blog!

The dolphins were really incredible that day - too fast for us to capture more fully but great fun to watch.

This reminds me of the time I went to see the whales in Argentina. You could see them from a very close distance and the tail was the most impressive part. It hit the water with a lot of strength. That is in Puerto Madryn, in the South region of the country. I advice you to go if you like sea animals. Argentina apartments are really cheap and you get to see some strange and wild animals!
