Photo Tour of Milford, Delaware

I've been taking walks in the early morning around downtown Milford and took these photos on two different days. I thought I would share them with you here.

Sketchbook Skool and my continued Artistic Journey

I've been taking these online "klasses" (and no, that's not a type-o) with some of my heroes of
Watercolor Journaling (a.k.a. Art Journaling, Sketching, Artist Journals, Illustrated Journals etc) like Danny Gregory, Brenda  Swanson, Koosje Koene, Tommy Kane, Cathy Johnson and more. I started with Semester 1 and had such a good time, trying out different techniques and materials and working to stretch myself outside my comfort zone. I thought I would share some of the works that came out of this experience and briefly tell you what I was trying to do. I hope you find this interesting! I love learning and learning new ways to create art is always exciting. So here is an "Art Photo Essay" with a few of the works I have completed so far in Semester 2. Each semester consists of 6 weeks of instruction with a different instructor each week. If you are interested in checking this out, go to http://sketchbookskool.com/.

A very different approach for me - Fast - lay in the watercolor shape first and then - Slow - add your  ink drawing.

"Selfies" - Self Portraits done looking in the mirror, looking at a photograph and from your imagination. Challenging!

Trying that Fast/Snow thing again with india ink that was water soluable

This semester is all about "Seeing" so we were to "Look at Toast" and sketch all the nooks and crannies.

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) - Art Exhibitions and Rooftop Sculpture Gardens at the Grohmann Museum

Top of the Grohmann Museum at MSOE has a rooftop sculpture garden with
a great view of the downtown - Here's a blurb from the Grohmann Museum's website:
"A dozen large, bronze sculptures – men toiling in the field and foundry, heaving hammers or pinching molten metal with hot tongs – perch on the roof line of the Grohmann Museum. These fellows, each about 9 feet tall and weighing in at a thousand pounds a piece, have a commanding view of a city that was built on the hard work they depict. The commissioned sculptures, replicas of smaller bronzes in the collection, were fabricated in the Philippines through a process called lost-foam casting that transformed them from their original size of about 19-inches to larger-than-life scale.

Visit to Milwaukee - Bay View Gallery Night

Bob and I arrived in Milwaukee by plane out of Baltimore, into General Mitchell International Airport and hit the ground running! It was Bay View Gallery Night and art galleries and shops participating in exhibiting art were open. The streets were full of people out enjoying the beautiful weather, dining outside on the wide sidewalks in front of the many restaurants that have popped up in the popular, art-centered Milwaukee neighborhood. Our daughter Jessica, professional stage manager at Next Act Theatre, grew up in our art-conscious home and loves these kinds of events. We had a blast.

We were in Milwuakee to celebrate Jessica's birthday and attend the party she was throwing on Saturday. Here's another "photo essay" of the night. It was around sunset as we walked the streets, enjoying all sorts of art and the fun shops in Bay View.
