A Painting a Day - Day 18 - Red Apple

Red Apple,  Acrylic and  Watercolor
Today I brought in an apple to eat in the afternoon for a snack. But as I looked at it sitting there, I decided I should try to paint it first. I just had to do it in acrylic. I envisioned that dark red shape on a deep green background - complementary colors with a touch of blue and yellow/orange.

I used my brush to outline the shape of the apple in a dark blue and then brought in the deep reds, oranges and yellows and the dark shadows around the middle. I wanted the light to come from the right and really enjoyed the darks I was able to achieve with the acrylics - again using a limited palette of yello, blue and red, adding touches of watercolor in different blues and yellows.
