A Painting a Day - Day 6

This is based on yesterday's painting. When I cropped it for a little "tease" on my facebook page I decided I liked the way it looked cropped tighter, so that's what I went for today. Trying to simplify, working with shapes, colors, relationships, composition. I wondered if it needs some sort of a door/window shape on the barn wall on the right side. Looking at Wolf Kahn's work - amazing!

Trying to be patient, waiting for the watercolor paint layers to dry on the painting at the top, I started another. This one is based on a very small thumbnail of a painting I did at a workshop with Marcia Reed last year at Mispillion Art League. Interesting how the tiny ones seem to work so well! When I go larger - and these are only 8x8, it seems a different ballgame. Hmmmm.

Waiting for your comments! I'll be back in the studio on Wednesday to paint some more!

In both of them I like the blocks of color; it makes the paintings almost abstract!

Thanks! I'm enjoying playing with shapes, color, composition. Trying to learn something new as I go along.

Wolf Kahn sneaks up on a person, doesn't he? Take a look at the warmth of the yellow, next to the purple. Would a cooler yellow work better?

Yes, I believe you're right. Thanks. I got a little orangey there - more than I should have. I appreciate the suggestion very much.
