4th of July in Lewes, Delaware

On the 4th of July we went to Lewes (sounds like Lewis) for a boat parade. Lewes is on Delaware Bay and it has a pretty harbor and cute downtown. It bills itself as the First Town in the First State. Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States and Lewes was the site of the first European settlement in Delaware, founded by Dutch settlers in 1631. The locals were decked out in red, white and blue for the occasion.

American flags were abundant!

Even the Statue of Liberty made an appearance.
