Mispillion Art League's new home!

The main gallery at 5 North Walnut Street

Friday evening, the 4th of December the city of Milford held its annual Holiday Stroll. Downtown businesses were open late, offering free refreshments, horse drawn wagon rides, Santa & Mrs. Claus and live entertainment. It was a very festive evening and a great start to the holiday season!

I am excited to tell you that the Mispillion Art League opened its doors at our new space at 5 N. Walnut Street, right on the Riverwalk in downtown Milford, a building recently restored from being quite an eyesore. At one time, this was a local hardware store and original Milfordians reminisced about the old days, happy to see the building being used once again. We hope this is the start of a real renaissance in Milford, Delaware. The new logo I designed was on view to the members and citizens alike and was well received.

We had a terrific turnout!! Everyone who walked through the doors was impressed with the space and enjoyed looking at the art and talking with neighbors. We offered holiday treats and hot drinks and the work from our 6th Annual Members Fine Art and Fine Craft Show graced the walls. Angela Prattis was voted “People’s Choice” and a raffle was held for Cathy Walls’ donated artwork.

We kicked off our fundraiser “$100 from 100 donors” and had several people write checks on the spot with Dan Bond, owner of the Ladybug Shop, the first to sign up! Let me know if you are interested in donating.

Musicians from the Delaware Music School stopped by the play some Christmas music on their violins and even Santa and Mrs. Claus dropped by for a visit!

We had an even bigger crowd as the night wore on!
