A Painting a Day - Day 22 and Day 23

Since I played hookey yesterday and didn't go to my Studio. It was our wedding anniversary and Bob and I spent the day walking on the beach and hanging out together. So today I painted two paintings to make up for it. I had in mind to paint this pear and today using my acrylic paints again. I'm really enjoying the quality of the paint when I let one layer dry (after blending colors with my brushes) and the depth of color that results.

With the blue one I was just playing with the paint and the layers of colors and trying to get that center to really pop, adding white gouache to the blue for the the lighter blue color, contrasting agains the darker blues that went on first. It looks more like a crazy splatter paint thing, science fiction special effect or a spinning pinwheel on a green stick! But I had a lot of fun doing it and hope you enjoy looking at it! I really like the feeling of energy it projects.

Tomorrow I will be away from my studio for a family event, and Wednesday I'm going on a bus trip to the Delaware Art Museum, so don't look for another "painting a day" until Thursday evening.

Have a good weekend!
