A Painting a Day - Day 17: Violets

Joan (the-pearl-lady-studio.com) had these violets in her studio

Yesterday when I arrived in my studio I didn't have anything in mind to paint for my "Painting a Day" subject. So my friend Joan (a.k.a. The Pearl Lady) whose studio is across from mine at the Studios Upstairs suggested I try working on her pot of violets. Tiny little flowers, I wanted to zoom in close and tried to capture the many colors of purple and the thick, dark green, textured leaves of this pretty plant.

I debated about whether to use india ink and create my loose lines and opted not to. I may take another stab at these today and see what happens.
