New Watercolor: Piazza Duomo, Orvieto

Just completed this journal painting. I have always loved this row of shops and restaurants adjacent to the lovely Cathedral (Duomo) with its mosaic-covered facade in Orvieto, in Umbria. This was done in pen and ink with watercolor, painted from one of our photographs. We had gone to Orvieto by bus from Perugia for an exhibition of early Miro sketches at a nearby museum on this summer day. It was lunch time (riposo) and as is typical in Italy, everything was closed.
